# Update Payment Instrument

Updates the reversal Account for a completed PaymentInstrument of type `inbound_achwire_payment`. The current reversal Account must be unset or match your team's current default reversal Account.

The change applies to future Payments. Existing Payments and reversals in progress retain their original reversal Account.

Operation Type: ⚡ Synchronous (Your request is processed immediately, and you'll receive a response before proceeding.)

## Returns

Returns the updated PaymentInstrument object and emits a `payment_instrument.update` webhook. Requesting the current reversal Account succeeds without another update or webhook.
